The Top 10 Teams Right Now on Friday, April 23rd.

1. Colorado Avalanche (Last week — #1)

What even needs to be said at this point? They have won nine of their last ten games and continue to dominate with a +55 goal differential.

2. Vegas Golden Knights (Last week — #2)

The Golden Knights also have nine wins in their past ten games, and are riding an eight game winning streak. They find ways to win and are such a well-rounded team and Shea Theodore has quietly played himself into the Norris conversation. There is an argument to have them come in at number one, but these golden buckets are just too hideous.

3. Carolina Hurricanes (Last week — #5)

The Canes have six skaters with 10 or more goals and 30 or more points. Alex Nedeljkovic has been a bright spot and currently has the best save percentage and goals against average of any goalie with more than 15 games played.

4. Boston Bruins (Last week — Not ranked)

The Taylor Hall effect? The stat sheet doesn't indicate that he has been the difference maker with just 2 goals and 4 points since arriving in Boston, but the team is yet to lose with him in the lineup. Jeremy Swayman is the real deal in net and more deserving of the credit for Boston's recent success.

5. Washington Capitals (Last week — #6)

A speed bump here and there, but the Caps are still an excellent club when they get decent goaltending. They have been scoring at a crazy pace, 5.6 per game over the last five, before a 1-0 shootout win over the Isles Thursday.

6. Minnesota Wild (Last week — Not ranked)

The Wild are on another run, winning five straight and seven of the last ten. They've been very good since they got spanked by the Blues 9-1 on April 9th.

7. Tampa Bay Lightning (Last week — #7)

The Bolts have stalled here lately, and are surely missing Stamkos and Kucherov, but no one can deny that this team is good enough to beat anyone on any given night. They also just added some nice jewelry to the collection.

8. Florida Panthers (Last week — #8)

Sam Bennett is fitting in well with his new team and Sasha Barkov continues to be quietly elite night after night.

9. Toronto Maple Leafs (Last week — #4)

They dropped five straight, including two to the recovering Canucks, but looked good in a win over Winnipeg last night. I truly believe Foligno is going to make a gargantuan impact on this team, but they might be this year's Avalanche unless Campbell and Rittich improve.

10. New York Islanders (Last week — #3)

The Isles are still in a position in the East despite their recent scoring struggles. They remain within striking distance of the first seed.
